ROME - An Italian priest was fighting for his life yesterday after an unknown attacker doused him with petrol and set fire to him as he prayed alone in his church.

Doctors said Father Mario Torregrossa (52), suffered burns to 40 per cent of his body in Sunday's attack at the Catholic Church of San Carlo da Sezze in Acilia, near Rome.
