A Dublin priest has been returned for trial on charges of indecently assaulting 10 young boys over a 19-year period.

A Dublin priest has been returned for trial on charges of indecently assaulting 10 young boys over a 19-year period.

The 54-year-old priest, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces 42 charges alleging abuse of boys in their early teens between 1968 and 1987 in different Dublin parishes. He has been served with two books of evidence, one concerning 29 offences against the same boy between 1977 and 1979.

Judge Gerard Haughton remanded the defendant on continuing bail of £1,000 to appear for trial before the next sittings of the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
