A 55-year-old priest from the Tuam archdiocese who pleaded guilty to sexual assaults between 1986 and 1989 at a court hearing last October, has been remanded on continuing bail to appear at Castlebar Circuit Court on a large number of other alleged offences.

Mr Conor Fahy, for the defendant, Martin Greaney, said at Westport Court yesterday a large number of other alleged offences regarding other victims had come to light in the meantime and gardai were investigating these.

Judge Harvey Kenny agreed to an adjournment until the State had time to prepare a full report in order that all matters could be dealt with together.
