People from all over the world are attending a multicultural garden party at Áras an Uachtaráin today to celebrate ethnic and cultural diversity in Ireland.

The International Families Garden Party is being hosted by the President Mary McAleese and her husband at 2.30pm.

Over 350 guests have been invited, with families coming from Bosnia, China, Iran, Latvia as well as many African countries.

Members of organisations representing the rights of immigrants, refugees and asylum-seekers in Ireland have also been invited.

The Thurles Gospel Singers, Children of Soweto dancers and Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann will provide entertainment during the day.
