President remembers war victims

President Mary McAleese has today attended a National Day of Commemoration in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.

President Mary McAleese has today attended a National Day of Commemoration in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.

At the event she laid a wreath in honour of all Irishmen and Irishwomen who died in past wars or on service with the United Nations.

Several hundred members of the Defence Forces attended the ceremony, which heard prayers read by representatives of the Christian, Jewish and Islamic faiths.
