President receives award

The President, Mrs Robinson, received an award for her work on human rights at a ceremony in Portugal yesterday. She shares the North-South Lisbon Prize with the former Chilean president Mr Patricio Aylwin. The annual award was being made in recognition of their "outstanding achievement regarding human rights protection, struggle for pluralist democracy and... solidarity," the Council of Europe's Lisbon-based North-South Centre said in a statement.
