United States President George Bush is expected to visit Northern Ireland next month as part of a European tour which will also see him participate in the annual US-European Union Summit in Slovakia.

President Bush will also visit Germany, Italy, the Vatican, France and the United Kingdom during his time in Europe.

It is believed that President Bush will travel to Stormont to honour a commitment made to outgoing First Minister, Dr Ian Paisley and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness during their visit to the USlate last year.

The President's visit to Europe will also commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Marshall Plan and the Berlin Airlift.
