A 14-year-old Dublin girl who fled the State with a man last September is pregnant and in the care of the Eastern Health Board. The girl returned to Ireland on October 23rd after police found her in a hostel in England.
The man, who is married with children, was jailed in Britain for three months for abducting her.
Garda sources yesterday confirmed newspaper reports that the teenager was still in the board's care and was pregnant.
A file relating to the alleged abduction of the child has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, it is understood.
It was also reported yesterday that gardai are continuing an investigation into the statutory rape of the girl.
