The Archbishop of York will today lead a prayer vigil for kidnapped BBC journalist Alan Johnston.
Dr John Sentamu said the vigil was an appeal to Johnston's kidnappers to set him free and a prayer "for those who think violence is the answer to the problems of the Middle East".
A series of vigils were held yesterday amid unconfirmed claims he had been killed.
A previously unknown Palestinian group, The Brigades of Tawheed and Jihad, sent a statement to news organisations claiming it had killed the Scot, who is the BBC's Gaza correspondent.
The group said it killed Mr Johnston to support demands for the release of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
The journalist was abducted by masked gunmen as he returned to his apartment in Gaza City on March 12th. He is the longest-held reporter to be seized in the Gaza Strip.
