A postmortem will take place today on the body of a woman found unconscious in a house in the south inner city on Friday night.
A murder investigation is under way after the woman (48), who was taken to St James's Hospital, died last night.
The mother of five was discovered at approximately 9.40pm on Friday night at a house in James Street.
She had suffered serious head injuries in a beating, and gardaí also suspect she was thrown down some stairs.
A man who was arrested at the house on James’s St on Friday night is still in Garda custody.
