LISBON - Portugal and six former colonies, including Brazil, launched a commonwealth of Portuguese speaking countries yesterday to protect their common language and promote co-operation between their 200 million people. Heads of state and leaders from the seven members Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde and Sao Tome and Principe took part in the signing ceremony.
