The Dublin Port Tunnel was closed in both directions early this morning because of a fire on a truck.

Both lanes have since been reopened.

The brakes on the truck overheated and caused a fire to break out. Four units of Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene.

The ban on trucks entering the city centre was lifted for the duration of the closure. It is now back in place.

Traffic was severely disrupted in the area but is now moving freely.
