Pope John Paul has appointed the Archbishop of Glasgow, Cardinal Thomas Winning, as his special envoy for a commemorative ceremony marking the 1,400th anniversary of the death of St Colmcille. The ceremony takes place in the dioceses of Derry and Raphoe in June.
