MS ADI Roche will win the presidential race narrowly ahead of Prof Mary McAleese, according to an IMS/Sunday Independent poll.
In a sample ballot completed by 1,109 voters at 110 locations, Ms Roche received 38 per cent of first preferences, Prof McAleese 35 per cent, Ms Mary Banotti 18 per cent and Dana (Mrs Rosemary Scallon) 9 per cent.
After distribution of transfers, Ms Roche polled 51 per cent and Prof McAleese 49 per cent.
