LONDON - The Labour Party leader, Mr Tony Blair, is heading for Downing Street with a 140 seat majority, according to the latest opinion poll last night based on the findings of an Opinion Research Business survey for HSBC James Capel of a panel of previous Tory voters.
The poll found 15 per cent who voted for the Conservatives in the 1992 election were now planning to vote Labour, with 6 per cent backing the Liberal Democrats. Worryingly for the Tories, another 6 per cent said they intended to vote for Sir James Goldsmith's Referendum Party.
