Business journalist Shane Ross was telling the House of the “extraordinary” difficulties he encountered when researching the Fás expenses scandal.

At one stage, he was told he would have to hand over €1,000 for information, but this was later reduced to €500. “I sent a cheque but nothing happened for a long time. . .”

Mick Wallace: “Did the cheque bounce?”

Ross: “The cheque did not bounce. But I thank Deputy Wallace for his help.”
