THE introduction of divorce will increase the work of the free legal aid centres

THE introduction of divorce will increase the work of the free legal aid centres. The Minister for Equality and Law Reform, Mr Taylor, said that on February 27th, when the Family Law (Divorce) Act came into effect, 1,062 people had sought appointments with Legal Aid Board solicitors.

Responding to opposition deputies at question time, he said it may be necessary to move staff from one centre to another, depending on demand. The situation was under review.
