A SPECIAL Garda unit to concentrate on missing persons was sought by the Fianna Fail spokesman on justice.

Mr John O'Donoghue made his suggestion following the revelation by the Minister for Justice that 17 of the women reported missing since 1990 have not been traced. Figures given by Mrs Owen showed that in 1990, 421 women were reported missing, 418 were traced and three were untraced. Last year, 750 women were reported missing, 749 were traced, and one remains untraced.
