AN appeal to the parties to continue negotiations in an effort to resolve a dispute at the head offices of An Post came from the Minister for Enterprise and Employment, Mr Bruton.

He was told, in an adjournment debate, by Mr Tom Kitt (FF, Dublin South) that the dispute could lead to disruption of social welfare payments and transactions involving saving certificates and bonds.

Mr Bruton said a week's strike notice was served last Friday but he understood direct talks were continuing.
