A BILL to set up the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) as an independent agency was introduced by the Minister of State for Science and Technology, Mr Pat Rabbitte. The need to establish NSAI on this basis resulted from an EU requirement that the agency have an administrative structure independent of all other client agencies, he said. The Bill will be debated next week.
