The primary school transport scheme is costing an estimated £21.5 million annually, the Minister for Education, Mr Martin, revealed. In a written reply to Mr David G Stanton (FG, Cork East) the Minister said Bus Eireann operated the scheme as agents of his Department. Each year all existing routes were reviewed so as to deploy available resources in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
