UK and South African nationals remanded in custody following cannabis and cocaine finds

Cannabis and cocaine worth an estimated €370,000 were seized at Dublin airport over the bank holiday weekend.

Revenue said some 16.7kgs of cannabis worth €335,000 was discovered in the baggage of a 42-year-old South African man yesterday.

He was arrested at the scene and appeared in court today where he was remanded in custody for a week.

A second man was detained after about 500g of cocaine worth €35,000 was seized on Friday. The UK national had arrived in Dublin on a flight from Sao Paulo in Brazil. He had ingested a pellet containing the drug.

The man (34) was remanded in custody for a week after appearing in court yesterday.
