Police search for Down carjackers

A teenager had a knife held against his throat before a gang hijacked his car in Co Down, police said today.

A teenager had a knife held against his throat before a gang hijacked his car in Co Down, police said today.

The victim was sitting in his Rover 214 on Lower Catherine Street, Newry when he was approached by three men around 7pm yesterday.

A PSNI spokeswoman said he refused to get out of the car and was then threatened at knifepoint by one of the suspects.

The gang drove off in the silver vehicle, registration RAZ 4577.

The men were in their mid 30s and were wearing baseball caps. One had a moustache.
