Diyarbakir - Turkish security forces killed 17 Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) rebels in eastern and south-eastern regions, official sources said yesterday.

The eastern Diyarbakir police precinct in charge of anti-PKK operations said police killed 10 guerrillas in the south-eastern provinces of Sirnak and Hakkari and two others in eastern Tunceli. Two members of the security forces also died. Five other rebels were killed in the eastern province of Erzincan.

Also yesterday one person died and two children were injured when their car hit a landmine in the town of Yuksekova, in Hakkari province.
