Several PSNI officers were injured early today when up to 200 people rioted in Derry.

Several PSNI officers were injured early today when up to 200 people rioted in Derry.

Officers were attacked when they were called to a disturbance in the city and found rival groups fighting.

They were pelted with stones, bottles and other missiles when they moved in to try to separate the factions fighting outside a bar on the Strand Road at around 2 a.m.

One man was taken to hospital following the trouble and two men were arrested for disorderly behaviour.

None of the injured officers was understood to have been seriously hurt.
