Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a woman was killed when she was hit by a car.

Regina Kennedy (37), of Blarney Street in Cork, died at the scene of the collision in Carrshill, Douglas, early this Monday.

Officers are anxious to speak to anyone who could help trace her movements on Sunday night.

Ms Kennedy, formerly of Edgeworthstown in Co Longford, was last seen in the South Mall area of Douglas at around 10.30pm.

To date this year, 165 people have been killed on Irish roads.
