A soccer player who kicked an opponent during a match, breaking his leg, was fined £100 for assault yesterday at a court in Cookstown, Co Tyrone.

Prosecuting counsel Mr Clive Connell said Michael Robert Brown (29), a roof tiler, of Claggan Park, Cookstown, was playing for Southend against Cookstown Royals in a game on December 3rd 1994 when the incident occurred.
