Plane crashes off Tuskar Rock

A light aircraft has crashed off the coast of Co Wexford

A light aircraft has crashed off the coast of Co Wexford. The plane, an Avid Speedwing two-seater, ditched into the sea at around 5pm this evening near Tuskar Rock.

The pilot, who was the only person on board, was rescued by an Irish Coastguard Helicopter. He was found clinging to the wing of the plane. It is understood he has been taken to Waterford Regional  Hospital.

The Rosslare and Kilmore lifeboats also attended the scene.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit will recover the plane and conduct an investigation into the incident.
