Gardai and the Army bomb disposal unit are investigating an incident in which a pipe bomb was thrown through the window of a house in West Dublin.

The incident happened at around 12.30am this morning in a house in the Lindisfarne area of Clondalkin. Gardai and the Army attended the scene and removed the device.

Gardai said the pipe bomb did not explode and two people in the house at the time escaped without injury.

The area was evacuated for a time and a full investigation is underway.
