GARDAI have released this photograph of Ms Belinda Pereira (26), the woman murdered in Dublin the weekend before last.

The officer lending the investigation, Supt Bill O'Donoghue of Store Street station, said he hoped publication of the photograph would prompt people who may have seen her to come forward.

Ms Pereira, who was of Sri Lankan parents, had come to Dublin to work as a prostitute over the Christmas holiday season. Her body was found in an apartment at Liffey Street in the city centre on the afternoon, of December 29th. She is known to have been alive at 10 p.m. the previous night.

Ms Pereira was murdered with a blunt instrument, such as a hammer, which has not been found. Gardai say that while a number of people have already come forward with information, they would like anyone who visited the apartment at Mellor Court, or who saw any suspicious activity there on the weekend of Saturday 28th, to contact them at Store Street.

Members of Ms Pereira's family returned to London last Tuesday after her body was cremated at Glasnevin Cemetery.
