An English pharmacist was remanded for sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court yesterday on charges of manufacturing the drug from which ecstasy tablets are made.

Brian Cooper (50), a qualified pharmacist, from Victoria Road, Mitcham, Surrey pleaded guilty to having MDA for supply at Dun Laoghaire on June 30th, 1995.

He also admitted unlawfully manufacturing MDA at Wentwotth House, Tandy's Lane, Lucan, Co Dublin on or about June 30th, 1995.

Judge Gerard Buchanan remanded him in custody for sentence on March 28th.
