CAIRO - The Egyptian authorities are looking for a new home for a colossal statue of Rameses II that has been a fixture of one of Cairo's busiest squares since it was brought there from Memphis in 1956.

The statue of Rameses II - one of ancient Egypt's most important pharaohs and greatest builders - was ordered into its current location outside Cairo's central train station by the then president Gamal Abdel Nasser.
