Alessandro Petacchi of Italy won the sixth stage of the Giro d'Italia cycle race over 164 km from Spoleto to Valmontone today.
It was his third stage win of the race and it was gained in pouring rain.
Second place went to Germany's Olaf Pollack with Argentina's Alejandro Alberto Borrajo in third. Italy's Gilberto Simoni retained the overall lead.
