MICHAEL JACKSON has wished Nelson Mandela, who turned 78 yesterday, a happy birthday. They met shortly after Jackson arrived in South Africa for a three day visit.
"The President was beaming", said Jerry Inzerello, chief operator of the Sun City resort that is hosting a media conference by Jackson today.
About a dozen women were waiting for Prince Charles as he arrived at the Carlyle Hotel in New York, offering comments that were less than complimentary.
All expressed sympathy and admiration for Princess Diana.
Meanwhile the princess and the Duchess of York have arrived with their children for a holiday in the French Riviera. They are to stay at a hunting lodge believed to belong to the duchess's former boyfriend Paddy McNally.
