Gardaí are investigating a traffic crash in Dublin today which left a woman seriously injured.

Gardaí are investigating a traffic crash in Dublin today which left a woman seriously injured.

A 49-year-old pedestrian was struck by a car on the Monkstown Road at about 5.45pm. She was taken to St Vincents Hospital suffering from serious injuries.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to contact Blackrock garda station on 01 6665200. They are particularly anxious to talk to the driver of a silver coloured car, possibly a Nissan Micra.

Meanwhile, gardaí have named the man who was killed in a collision near Dundrum, Co Tipperary, has been named as Michael Carew (50) of Croughmakeen, Doon, Co Limerick.
