Pedestrian dies in Galway incident

A man in his 60s has died after he was hit by a car in Co Galway.

A man in his 60s has died after he was hit by a car in Co Galway.

Gardaí in Carraroe are investigating the incident, which occurred, at Ballinahown, Inverin at about 6.30pm last night.

The man was taken to University Collage Hospital Galway where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car was uninjured.

A Garda spokesman said the stretch of road was closed to facilitate an examination this morning by Garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.

Witnesses are asked to contact Salthill Garda station.
