The Peace People organisation has complained that insufficient British government funding is deflecting its members from carrying out its proper work of improving community relations and bolstering peace prospects.

Ms Dee Kee, the outgoing chairwoman, told the Peace People's annual conference in Belfast on Sunday that the organisation should receive full funding from the Community Relations Council, rather than the current 75 per cent aid.

She said the burden of raising the 25 per cent of funding for projects and commitments was hampering the organisation.
