The Railway Procurement Agency's annual report of Luas is expected to show that the light rail system made a profit last year and will not need a Government subsidy this year.
According to a report in today's Irish Timesthe Luas reached 'break-even' one year ahead of schedule.
This is due in part to a sharper than expected rise in passenger numbers which last year exceeded the break-even figure of 20 million a year.
However, this success has led to overcrowding and the RPA is today expected to outline measures to deal with this.
