ATHENS - Greece's two month political crisis caused by the illness of Mr Andreas Papandreou, moved towards its end yesterday with clear signs that his socialist party would replace him in the next 10 days.

President Costis Stephanopoulos will visit the prime minister in hospital this week and political analysts say he will urge him to resign to give Greece a new leader and avoid instability. Pasok's central will meet on Saturday and is expected to ask the parliamentary group to Mr Papandreou's successor on January 24th or 25th, according to Sunday newspaper reports.
