Police are checking their missing persons files to try to establish the identity of a man whose partial skeleton was found near Fincarn Road, Kilnappy, Co Derry, on Thursday, writes Gerry Moriarty, in Belfast.

Clothing found at the scene indicates the remains are that of an adult male. A small wallet was also found containing money, the dates of which indicate the man died some time after 1987, according to the RUC.

The remains were brought to the Royal Victoria Hospital for forensic examination.
