Parents of students in vocational schools and community colleges are targeting candidates in the election to press for the abolition of examination fees.

Mr Nick Killian, secretary of the Parents Association for Vocational Schools and Community Colleges, said there was a perception that postprimary education was free, but parents were continuously paying fees for junior certificate and leaving certificate examinations.
