A Palestinian man has been shot dead by Israeli forces after he allegedly tried to carry explosives into an off-limits area in the central Gaza Strip, the army said today.
A military spokeswoman said an explosive device was found next to the man's body. The incident occurred last night, but troops did not discover the body until this morning.
Palestinian officials said the body was transferred to a Palestinian hospital. Officials could not immediately identify the dead man or say if he was affiliated with a militant group.
