Lisbon - A senior Palestinian official said last night he was confident that talks with Israel set for next week in Washington would help pave the way for a final peace deal.
Minister for Planning and International Co-operation Mr Nabil Shaath told a meeting in Lisbon of the ad-hoc liaison committee, set up after a 1993 Israel-Palestinian peace accord, he was hopeful the two sides could overcome remaining difficulties.
