A Palestinian man has been shot dead by Israeli security forces after he allegedly grabbed a pistol from an Israeli security guard in Jerusalem's Old City and shot him.
The Palestinian man was shot dead by another guard as he tried to flee, Israeli police said. It is reported nine other people were wounded in the melee.
The assailant, roughly 20 years old, wrested the weapon from the guard in the Old City's Christian Quarter, shot him in the chest and fled, police said.
Another guard ran after him, and the two briefly exchanged fire before the Palestinian was killed, a police spokesman said.
The Israeli government employs the security guards to protect Jewish families who live in the Old City.
