Jerusalem - Torture is still widespread in Palestinian prisons where more than 300 political prisoners are held, most without trial or charge, a Palestinian human rights group said yesterday.

Two Palestinian prisoners died in custody last year, bringing the total to 22 since the establishment of Mr Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Authority in 1994, it said.
