The DUP leader, the Rev Ian Paisley, has criticised the Ulster Unionist Party for describing the retention of the RUC's name in the title of the new Police Service of Northern Ireland as a "victory".

Dr Paisley said the name RUC would play no part in the operational title of the police and accused the UUP of deceiving both its ruling council and the electorate.
