The number of overseas visitors to Ireland last year was 4,739,000, an increase of 11.3 per cent on the previous year, according to the Central Statistics Office.
The Minister for Tourism and Trade, Mr Kenny, has welcomed the latest figures. He said the tourism industry was well on course towards meeting the targets of the Operational Programme for Tourism 1994-99.
