The inquiry into the retention of organs in hospitals without permission has risen to over €15 million, it was reported today.

Chaired by Ms Anne Dunne SC, the inquiry is investigating the inquiry of retaining organs of some deceased without the relatives' consent.

An interim report, dealing with the retention of organs in paediatric hospitals, is expected to be completed later this year.
