A court order, which would effectively stop work on the multi million pound Balbriggan bypass, has been sought in the Circuit Civil Court.

Mr Kevin Kearney, a barrister, and his wife, Ms Marian Long, of Tara Grove, Balbriggan, have claimed heavy machinery and construction work only yards from their home have created intolerable vibration, noise and dust clouds.

They seek to restrain Fingal County Council and Wills Brothers Ltd from continuing construction work for a distance of just over 100 yards near their home.

The application, made yesterday by Mr Seamas O Tuathail, also seeks to restrain the defendants from causing high levels of noise, dust and vibrations.
