Billyhill Orange Hall, at Killaliss, Shercock, Co Cavan, was extensively damaged on Monday night when a fire hose was pulled from the wall and left on overnight and attempts were also made to burn a Union Jack and a US flag.

It is understood that the perpetrators of the attack forced their way in through a window. It is understood that an ESB meter box was also damaged.

The hall was the subject of a number of similar sectarian attacks in the early 1970s.
